Kate Gajdosik

Joining us for her fifth year as MC on the Celebrity Cooking Stage is Kate Gajdosik who is thrilled to be back for another exciting, informative, delicious and nutritious taste-testing weekend at the Vancouver Wellness Show!

Kate spent 17 years in Vancouver working in film, television, and radio. She was a reporter for several Vancouver television and radio stations including Global BC, AM 730, CKNW, and Talk 1410AM where she co-hosted the afternoon drive show. She also filled multiple roles at CTV BC including airborne helicopter reporter, news anchor, and weekend weather anchor, but in the fall of 2011, Kate left Vancouver to join Global TV in her hometown of Winnipeg where she is the Weather Specialist on the Evening News at 6pm, Prime News at 10pm, and News Final at 11pm. Kate is not only an anchor and reporter in real life but has portrayed those roles in several feature films including “The Big Year”, “Tron: Legacy”, “The Doomsday Prophecy”, “Call Me Mrs. Miracle”, and television series “The Killing”, “Hellcats”, and “Psych”.

In her off time, she enjoys running, travel, movies, and photography, and her guilty pleasures include exquisite cuisine, dark chocolate, and fantastic wine!

Dr. Rhonda Low Dr. Rhonda Low hosts Your Health daily on CTV News, providing information current to today's health issues. She also writes the Your Health column found weekly in TV Week magazine. She is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Family & Community Medicine at the UBC. Dr. Low was born and raised in Vancouver and practices family medicine full-time in Vancouver. Dr. Low received her Bachelors of Science degree with Honours in Cell Biology from UBC and is a graduate of UBC Medical School.
Julie Van Rosendaal Julie Van Rosendaal is a the author of the best-selling cookbooks One Smart Cookie, Starting Out and Grazing, and co-author of the newly released Spilling the Beans (Whitecap). She is the food editor of Parents Canada magazine and a freelance writer, contributing regularly to local, national and international publications. She is the food and nutrition columnist on the Calgary Eyeopener on CBC Radio One, co-host of It's Just Food on the OWN television network, and a contributor to the online food show Good Bite (www.goodbite.com). She's a columnist for The Family Kitchen on Babble.com, and writes and is the photographer for her award-winning food blog, DinnerwithJulie.com, which documents real life in her home kitchen in Calgary, Alberta with her husband, Mike, and 6 year old son, Willem.
Sue Duncan Sue Duncan grew up in Calgary, eating and cooking with Julie at every opportunity. She has been a flight instructor and an airline dispatcher, but now lives at Silver Star Mountain in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. She does some catering, but mainly cooks for family and friends.

Tobias Grignon Chef Tobias' professional career started as 2nd cook at the Delta Vancouver Suites,  from there the young chef moved up the 'kitchen brigade' and honed his skills in the kitchens of the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel and the Fairmont Empress Hotel in Victoria.  In 2005, Vancouver's elegant boutique hotel, The Wedgewood, lured him back to Vancouver where he became Sous Chef for the hotel's award-winning Bacchus Restaurant.  "I've finally found the perfect chef for Pastis." With those words Bistro Pastis proprietor John Blakeley proudly introduced a group of media to Chef Tobias in the spring of 2011.

Ned Bell

His culinary studies began at Canada's prestigious, Dubrulle Culinary School, where instructor Rob Feenie inspired Ned to follow him to Le Crocodile. Flourishing as an apprentice under Feenie and Vancouver culinary legend, Michel Jacob, Ned next moved up as Sous Chef for the opening team of Lumiere, a restaurant that put Vancouver on the global culinary map.  A few years later, things turned a 'little bit country' when Ned heeded the call of the west and was soon awarded the "Best Overall and Rising Star Award" from WHERE magazine after opening Murrieta's Grill in Calgary. In 2007, Ned fulfilled a dream and returned to his Okanagan roots to become co-owner and chef at the Kelowna lakeside favourite, Cabana Bar and Grille where he was soon ranked one of Western Living magazine's "Top 40 Foodie's Under 40."

Romy Prasad Having studied in both Canada and Europe, Chef Romy's work experience has taken him from Michelin-starred restaurants in Italy, France and Spain to New York and ultimately, Vancouver - where Prasad joined the well known Umberto Menghi group of restaurants as Executive Chef at CinCin for 8 years, winning numerous prestigious awards including two-time Silver Spoon recipient. 

In 2009, Prasad joined Federico's Supper Club as Executive Chef where he continues to earn recognition as one of Vancouver's top Chefs, placing Federico's Supper Club as Vancouver's Best Italian Restaurant on Opentable's 'Diner's Choice list. Johanna Ward Johanna Ward, host of Shaw TV’s lifestyle show The Express, is known for her enthusiasm around all things fitness, food, and feel-good!

A proud west coaster, she’s committed to both living and promoting healthy lifestyles, on camera & off. Johanna’s been teaching dance-fitness classes for 13+ years. You can find her most nights at the YWCA in Vancouver. She ran/walk/danced the Reykjavik half-marathon with Team Diabetes in August 2011, and is currently training properly for the Sun Run and blogging about it for the Vancouver Sun.

Her next big adventure will take her to El Salvador this spring, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity (and attempting to stand up on a surfboard)!

Jennifer Peters Chef Jennifer Peters grew up in the Fraser Valley Region of British Columbia. Her professional career began at 'Le Belle Auberge', apprenticing under local great Bruno Marti. Seeking to expand her knowledge, she traveled to the UK, completing cooking stints at 'Mosimann's Private Dining Room' and Sir Terrence Conran's 'Almeida'. She further honed her skills at 'Diva at the Met' and 'The Pear Tree' under the tutelage of Chefs' Chris Mills and Scott Jaeger.

With the turn of the century Antonio returned to Lake Como where we opened a unique restaurant called La Cucina della Marianna, where fresh and local ingredients were a must. Antonio enthusiastically joined the Choices team in 2005 and has since proudly taken the reigns of Choices Kitchen as the company's Executive Chef.

Hidekazu Tojo Hidekazu Tojo was born in Japan. As a young man, he traveled to Osaka to apprentice at Ohnoya, famed Ryotei or classic Japanese fine dining. In 1988 he opened Tojo's Restaurant and in 2007 moved to the current location. Tojo ventured to North America in 1971 and chose Vancouver as the perfect place to further develop his craft. Tojo is the inventor of the California Roll and BC Roll which are well known even in Japan.

His varied career included heading the kitchen at Langara Fishing Lodge and in the off-season, he taught western-style cooking classes to Chinese students in Taiwan; he still holds his position as the private chef on the Spirit of Two Thousand and Ten a fifteen million dollar yacht.
